It functions thanks to its artificial soul. The vivid decoration is proof that it was presented as a gift to royalty.
Magearna Weakness
Fire and Ground moves hit Magearna for super-effective damage. The upside? Poison and Dragon-type moves can't touch it at all. 9 resistances give it solid defensive coverage on top of that. Magearna's overall bulk (80/115/115) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.

Magearna Guide
For the Legends: Z-A meta, At 600 BST, Magearna is built different. We rank it A-Tier. As a Mythical Pokemon, the raw stats back up the reputation. Best used as a wallbreaker. Dazzling Gleam with Leftovers is the standard set.
Mega Evolution isn't available in Legends: Z-A, but Magearna does have a Mega form in Gen 6-7 games (X/Y, ORAS, Sun/Moon). Mega Magearna hits 700 BST.
In Legends: Z-A, watch for Arcanine (Fire) and Excadrill (Ground) when using Magearna. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. Magearna has enough bulk to absorb a hit, but don't push the matchup. Pivot to a teammate that resists.
Soul Heart this Pokémon's Special Attack rises by one stage every time any Pokémon faints. That's the one you want on Magearna. It's the only ability Magearna has.
In Legends: Z-A, Magearna fills the wallbreaker role. It's leaning toward the special side (base 130 Sp. Atk). At base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. And it's tanky enough to absorb a few hits.
