Mid-stage Pokemon like Snorunt rarely see competitive play outside of special formats. It's a waypoint on the road to Glalie, which is where the real potential kicks in. Introduced in Gen 3. Only weak to Fire, Fighting, Rock, and Steel.

An unusually even spread gives Snorunt flexibility. HP barely edges ahead. But any other stat isn't far off. Common in the wild and follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve. Yields 1 HP EV.

Best Build

No build content available for this Pokemon in Gen 5.

Try selecting a different game/generation filter, or check back later.

Don't skip the egg moves. Snorunt picks up Avalanche and Bide only through breeding, and both fill gaps the natural movepool can't. STAB runs through Blizzard and Ice Beam while Dark and Normal coverage and more adds range.

No wild encounters for Snorunt in Black 2 & White 2. It's available in Ruby, Emerald, or Sword and can be transferred over. The details below show where to find it.

Snorunt is not available as a wild encounter in this game.

Also found in:

  • Snorunt is meant to evolve into Glalie. At 300 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.

  • Watch for Arcanine (Fire), Blaziken (Fighting), and Golem (Rock) when using Snorunt. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Steel-type attackers are also a problem.

  • Snorunt can evolve into Glalie and Froslass depending on the method. Snorunt is the base form in a 3-stage evolutionary line.

  • Inner Focus prevents flinching — that's the one you want on Snorunt. Moody is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses. Ice Body works too if your team needs something different.

  • Base 50 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Snorunt is a mixed attacker — base 50 Attack and 50 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Fragile — can't afford to take many hits.

  • Snorunt appears in 17 games, including Ruby & Sapphire, FireRed & LeafGreen, and Emerald.

Obtainable through an item-based evolution, Snorunt appears in 17 titles across 7 generations since Ruby & Sapphire. The evolution method adds a barrier that wild-catchable Pokemon don't have.
