Mid-stage Pokemon like Snorunt rarely see competitive play outside of special formats. It's a waypoint on the road to Glalie, which is where the real potential kicks in. Introduced in Gen 3. Only weak to Fire, Fighting, Rock, and Steel.

An unusually even spread gives Snorunt flexibility. HP barely edges ahead. But any other stat isn't far off. Common in the wild and follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve. Yields 1 HP EV.

Arrives alongside the first snow. It’s thought that homes Snorunt visit will prosper for many generations. By tradition, one might offer a lump of ice made from pure water at one’s front door.

Not a lot to pick from. Snorunt gets Blizzard and Ice Beam for same-type damage, and Dark and Ghost coverage rounds things out. You're building around what's available rather than choosing from a deep bench.

  • Snorunt is meant to evolve into Glalie. At 300 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.

  • Watch for Arcanine (Fire), Blaziken (Fighting), and Golem (Rock) when using Snorunt. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Steel-type attackers are also a problem.

  • Snorunt can evolve into Glalie and Froslass depending on the method. Snorunt is the base form in a 3-stage evolutionary line.

  • Inner Focus prevents flinching — that's the one you want on Snorunt. Moody is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses. Ice Body works too if your team needs something different.

  • Base 50 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Snorunt is leaning toward the physical side (base 50 Attack). Defensively? Fragile — can't afford to take many hits.

  • Snorunt appears in 17 games, including Ruby & Sapphire, FireRed & LeafGreen, and Emerald.

Obtainable through an item-based evolution, Snorunt appears in 17 titles across 7 generations since Ruby & Sapphire. The evolution method adds a barrier that wild-catchable Pokemon don't have.
