Petilil sits at the start of its evolution line — not yet at full power, but that changes fast. Most trainers push through to Lilligant as fast as possible. 5 type weaknesses to keep in mind. Known as the Bulb Pokemon.

Nothing fancy in Petilil's spread. It leans special with Sp. Atk out front. And you'll get 1 Sp. Atk EV per KO for it. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.

By pruning the leaves on its head with regularity, this Pokémon can be grown into a fine plump shape.

Egg moves make a real difference. Petilil gets Bide and Charm exclusively through breeding, filling gaps that TMs and level-up can't touch. Psychic and Normal coverage rounds out the picture alongside Leaf Storm and Solar Beam.

  • At 280 BST, Petilil is firmly in pre-evolution territory. Evolve it into Lilligant before bringing it to any serious fight.

  • Petilil's biggest threats include Infernape (Fire), Kyurem (Ice), and Crobat (Poison), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. At base 30 Speed, Petilil won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • Petilil can evolve into Lilligant and Hisuian Lilligant depending on the method. Petilil is the base form in a 3-stage evolutionary line.

  • Petilil gets Chlorophyll, Own Tempo, and Leaf Guard. But Chlorophyll is the one that matters — it's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.

  • Petilil is a special attacker with base 70 Sp. Atk. Fragile — can't afford to take many hits, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 30 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.

  • Petilil appears in 9 games, including Black & White, Black 2 & White 2, and X & Y.

Since Black & White, Petilil has been obtainable in 9 games. A Generation 5 debut means a shorter history, but Petilil has appeared steadily across every generation since.
