Almost nobody uses Greavard in battle. It exists to evolve into Houndstone, which is a completely different story. Get it there and you won't regret it. Part of the Gen 9 roster. Normal and Fighting moves can't touch it, and only 2 types hit it super-effectively.

Nothing fancy in Greavard's spread. It leans physical with Attack out front. And you'll get 1 Attack EV per KO for it. Follows a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.

It is said that a dog Pokémon that died in the wild without ever interacting with a human was reborn as this Pokémon.

Scarlet

This friendly Pokémon doesn’t like being alone. Pay it even the slightest bit of attention, and it will follow you forever.

Greavard Weakness

Excellent

Greavard's Ghost typing leaves it vulnerable to Ghost and Dark moves. It shrugs off Normal and Fighting-type attacks completely. Greavard's Ghost typing only leaves 2 gaps to cover.

Weakness Policy and Fluffy form the backbone. Greavard invests a spread EV build EVs to play its physical attacker role properly, and Jolly nature pushes Speed higher. Poltergeist handles the heavy lifting on offense. The remaining moves rounds it out.

The level-up pool tells the story here. Greavard learns Play Rough and Phantom Force naturally, plus enough variety that TMs feel like bonuses. Coverage across 8 types extends the reach beyond that.

Greavard doesn't appear in Legends: Z-A. Transfer it from Scarlet to add it to your collection. Check the source games below for encounter details.

Greavard is not available as a wild encounter in this game.

Catch in the wild in:

Then trade to Legends: Z-A.

  • At 290 BST, Greavard is firmly in pre-evolution territory. Evolve it into Houndstone before bringing it to any serious fight.

  • Watch for Dragapult (Ghost) and Tyranitar (Dark) when using Greavard. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 34 Speed, Greavard won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • Greavard evolves into Houndstone at level 30. Greavard is the base form of this evolutionary line.

  • Pickup picks up other Pokémon's used and Flung held items — that's the one you want on Greavard. Fluffy is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.

  • Greavard is a physical attacker with base 61 Attack. Fragile — can't afford to take many hits, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 34 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.

  • Greavard can be found in Legends: Z-A and Scarlet & Violet.

Since Scarlet & Violet, Greavard has been obtainable in 2 games. A Generation 9 debut means a shorter history, but Greavard has appeared steadily across every generation since.
