Sp. Def leads and Defense gets almost nothing. That's Goodra's stat line in a nutshell. 5 stats sit in respectable range, but the spread is brutal. Tough to catch and yields 3 Sp. Def EVs.
It loves the rain. This mellow Pokémon can be seen walking around on the plains and in the mountains on rainy days.
This Pokémon is uncontrollable when enraged. It rampages on and on, lashing its tail with enough power to send a dump truck flying.
Type-wise, Goodra takes extra damage from Ice, Dragon, and Fairy. 4 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Sap Sipper grants an additional Grass immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Goodra's special bulk (base 150 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

How to Evolve
Breeding
Breed with Goodra to get Goomy eggs using 65 partners from the Dragon egg group. Notable egg moves include Counter, Life Dew.
This build takes hits and hits back. Leftovers provides passive recovery each turn, Sapsipper supports the gameplan, and max Sp. Atk and Speed EVs mean Goodra doesn't crumble to chip damage. Plus Fire coverage backing it up.

Hard to wall, honestly. Goodra threatens 12 types beyond its own STAB, with Grass and Poison standing out. Pair that with Draco Meteor and Outrage and switchins need to think twice.

You're catching Goomy first, not Goodra. Goomy appears at solid rates in the encounters below. The step cards map the full 3-stage chain with evolution methods between each stage.
How to Obtain Goodra in Scarlet & Violet
To get Goodra, start by catching Goomy through walking encounters at Lv. 15-50. The chain covers 2 catchable stages before reaching the final form.

Step 3Goodra ✓
In Scarlet & Violet, Sap Sipper changes the entire equation for Goodra. The 600 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked A-Tier as a tank. Draco Meteor with Leftovers is the standard set.
Sap Sipper is what you want on Goodra. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Hydration, Gooey) work on paper but Sap Sipper is what makes Goodra worth using.
Base 80 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Goodra is a mixed attacker with base 100 Attack and 110 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Tanky enough to absorb a few hits. Best used as a tank.
In Scarlet & Violet, the best way to handle Goodra: Status moves (Toxic, Will-O-Wisp) wear it down. Setup sweepers can use it as a boost opportunity. Physical attackers can break through.
Since debuting in X & Y, Goodra has appeared in 8 titles over 5 generations. Along the way, it received a Hisuian form in Generation 8, keeping it relevant across different competitive metas.
