Geodude sits at the start of its evolution line — not yet at full power, but that changes fast. Most trainers push through to Golem as fast as possible. Known as the Rock Pokemon. Built to hit on the physical side.
The stat bars tell the story: Defense carries everything and Speed's dead weight. But this Rock Pokemon still yields 1 Defense EV per fight on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
Makes its home in mountainous regions, using its arms to climb along harsh mountain roads. Can be troublesome—carelessly kicking one will cause it to fly into a rage and chase after you.
Geodude Weakness
FragileType-wise, Geodude takes extra damage from Water, Grass, Ice, Fighting, Ground, and Steel. Watch out for Water and Grass attacks, those deal 4x damage. Electric moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. The Rock/Ground typing picks up 5 resistances to work with. Geodude's physical bulk (base 100 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
Geodude kicks off a three-stage evolution line through Graveler all the way to Golem. For breeding, quick to hatch with plenty of partners via one egg group. Evolving adds up to 195 stat points total.
How to Evolve
Nothing fancy here. Geodude builds around Custapberry for extra utility, Adamant nature for the right stat lean, and a spread EV build EVs. Sturdy does its job quietly.

Recommended Teammates
Most of Geodude's flexibility comes from TMs. Same-type output runs through Earthquake and Stone Edge, but Normal and Fighting and the rest of the TM pool push it from predictable to genuinely threatening.

The offense anchors on Stone Edge and Earth Power, with Normal and Fire coverage and more adding reach. It's a workable movepool for Geodude that handles most situations. Double-Edge and Self-Destruct give it enough punch where it matters.
The egg pool carries weight here. Autotomize and Block aren't available any other way for Geodude, and they meaningfully change what it threatens. Stack those on top of Earthquake and Stone Edge for solid options.
The level-up pool tells the story here. Geodude learns Take Down and Self-Destruct naturally, plus enough variety that TMs feel like bonuses. Normal and Fighting coverage and more extends the reach beyond that.

At 300 BST, Geodude is firmly in pre-evolution territory. Evolve it into Graveler before bringing it to any serious fight.
Geodude's biggest threats include Gyarados (Water), Venusaur (Grass), and Lapras (Ice), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Gyarados is the most dangerous since Water moves deal 4x damage. Fighting, Ground, and Steel-type attackers are also a problem. With 6 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. At base 20 Speed, Geodude won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Geodude can evolve into Graveler and Alolan Graveler depending on the method. Geodude is the base form in a 5-stage evolutionary line.
Rock Head is the go-to ability for Geodude. It protects against recoil damage. Its hidden ability Sand Veil can work in specific setups. Sturdy is the other option — pick based on what your team needs.
Geodude is a physical attacker with base 80 Attack. But the speed tells the real story — base 20 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. Fits the trick room role.
