Is Gabite Good in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Playthrough?

Dragon/Ground middle stage. Fast and hits hard enough to contribute through late-game fights. Level 48 for Garchomp is a grind, but Gabite holds its own while you push toward it.

Gabite Weakness

Gabite is weak to Ice, Dragon, and Fairy. Watch out for Ice attacks, those deal 4x damage. On the flip side, it's immune to Electric-type moves entirely. Gabite leans offensive (base 90 Atk) rather than trying to tank its weaknesses.

Moves List

Egg moves make a real difference. Gabite gets Body Slam and Double-Edge exclusively through breeding, filling gaps that TMs and level-up can't touch. Normal and Flying coverage and more rounds out the picture alongside Draco Meteor and Outrage.

It loves shiny things. When it finds a Sableye trying to catch a Carbink, Gabite becomes furiously angry and attacks the Sableye.

It sheds its skin and gradually grows larger. Its scales can be ground into a powder and used as raw materials for traditional medicine.

Gabite Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Guide

  • In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Gabite isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Garchomp to unlock its full potential. At 410 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.

  • In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Gabite's biggest threats include Lapras (Ice), Dragonite (Dragon), and Gardevoir (Fairy), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Lapras is the most dangerous since Ice moves deal 4x damage.

  • Sand Veil is the go-to ability for Gabite. It increases evasion to 1.25× during a sandstorm. Its hidden ability Rough Skin can work in specific setups.

  • In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Gabite fills the balanced role. It's a special attacker with base 50 Sp. Atk. Base 82 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many.

  • In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Gabite does the job early-game if you need a Dragon/Ground type on your team. Evolve it into Garchomp before the later gyms and it holds up fine through the story.

Game Availability

Gabite first appeared in Diamond & Pearl and has been available in 14 games across 7 generations. Obtainable through catching or hatching as a base form in most titles where it appears.
