Gabite sits in the middle of its evolution line — stronger than Gible but not yet at full power. Most trainers push through to Garchomp as fast as possible. Known as the Cave Pokemon. Built to hit on the physical side.

Gabite's spread isn't flashy. Attack leads, Sp. Atk trails, 2 stats clear the bar. Tough to catch and worth 2 Attack EVs, on a slow 1.25M XP grind.

Though Gabite are usually of a violent disposition, when I gave one a glass bead it had been eyeing covetously, it suddenly became quite docile.

Gabite Weakness

Avg

Gabite is weak to Ice, Dragon, and Fairy-type moves. Watch out for Ice attacks, those deal 4x damage. On the flip side, it's immune to Electric-type moves entirely. Gabite leans offensive (base 90 Atk) rather than trying to tank its weaknesses.

Gabite is the middle stage between Gible and Garchomp. It's a three-stage line with one more evolution to go. For breeding, takes forever to hatch with a small partner pool via two egg groups. Speed has grown the most so far (+40), but there's still another 190 stats to gain in the final evolution.

The 50% bulk from Eviolite is no joke. Gabite takes hits that fully evolved Pokemon can't, especially with max Attack and Speed EVs pushing the physical side. Earthquake gives it offensive presence.

or evolve from Gible (Step 1)
  • Gabite isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Garchomp to unlock its full potential. At 410 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.

  • Gabite's biggest threats include Lapras (Ice), Dragonite (Dragon), and Gardevoir (Fairy), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Lapras is the most dangerous since Ice moves deal 4x damage.

  • Gible evolves into Gabite at level 24. Gabite evolves into Garchomp at level 48. Gabite is a middle-stage evolution in the Gible line.

  • Sand Veil is the go-to ability for Gabite. It increases evasion to 1.25× during a sandstorm. Its hidden ability Rough Skin can work in specific setups.

  • Gabite fills the balanced role. It's a physical attacker with base 90 Attack. Base 82 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many.

  • Gabite appears in 14 games, including Platinum, HeartGold & SoulSilver, and Diamond & Pearl.

Gabite first appeared in Diamond & Pearl and has been available in 14 games across 6 generations. Obtainable through catching or hatching as a base form in most titles where it appears.
