While most trainers evolve Finizen into Palafin immediately, the unevolved form has a niche with Eviolite boosting its defenses. Only weak to Electric and Grass. Known as the Dolphin Pokemon. Can go either physical or special depending on the set.

Finizen's spread isn't flashy. Speed leads, Defense trails, 0 stats clear the bar. Easy to catch and worth 1 Speed EV, on a slow 1.25M XP grind.

Nothing and Waterveil form the backbone. Finizen invests a spread EV build EVs to play its physical attacker role properly, and Jolly nature pushes Speed higher. Hydro Pump handles the heavy lifting on offense. Normal coverage rounds it out.

You'll want to breed for Boomburst and Bounce on Finizen. These egg moves aren't just nice to have. Combined with STAB from Hydro Pump and Aqua Tail, they expand what Finizen can actually threaten in practice.

  • Finizen isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Palafin to unlock its full potential. At 315 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.

  • Watch for Rotom (Electric) and Kartana (Grass) when using Finizen. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • Finizen evolves into Palafin at level 38. Finizen is the base form of this evolutionary line.

  • Water Veil prevents burns — that's the one you want on Finizen. Only ability available, so no decision to make.

  • Finizen fills the balanced role. It's a mixed attacker — base 45 Attack and 45 Sp. Atk. Base 75 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many. And it's fragile — can't afford to take many hits.

  • Finizen can be found in Scarlet & Violet.

Introduced in Scarlet & Violet, Finizen has appeared in 1 games across 1 generation. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
