Cursola Weakness

Cursola is weak to Ghost and Dark. On the flip side, it's immune to Normal and Fighting-type moves entirely. Cursola's special bulk (base 130 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Cursola Guide

  • In Sword & Shield, Cursola has a 510 base stat total and ranks as B-Tier: a solid option in Sword & Shield for the right team. It works best as a wallbreaker. Shadow Ball with Choice Specs is the standard set.

  • In Sword & Shield, Cursola's biggest threats include Gengar (Ghost) and Houndoom (Dark), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 30 Speed, Cursola won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • Weak Armor is the go-to ability for Cursola. It raises Speed and lowers Defense by one stage each upon being hit by a physical move. Its hidden ability Perish Body can work in specific setups.

  • In Sword & Shield, Cursola fills the wallbreaker role. It's a special attacker with base 145 Sp. Atk. Base 30 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • For Sword & Shield, the core moveset is Shadow Ball, Blizzard, Surf, and Ancientpower. Shadow Ball leads at 21% usage. This set covers the wallbreaker role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Introduced in Sword & Shield, Cursola has appeared in 2 games across 3 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
