Stats & Training
Cursola's all-in on Sp. Atk at the expense of Speed. The special lean is obvious from the bars. Yields 2 Sp. Atk EVs and follows a fast 800K XP curve.
Its shell is overflowing with its heightened otherworldly energy. The ectoplasm serves as protection for this Pokémon’s core spirit.
Be cautious of the ectoplasmic body surrounding its soul. You’ll become stiff as stone if you touch it.
Cursola Weakness
Cursola is weak to Ghost and Dark. On the flip side, it's immune to Normal and Fighting-type moves entirely. Cursola's special bulk (base 130 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Ghost, Dark |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Poison, Bug |
| 0x (Immune) | Normal, Fighting |
In Sword & Shield, Runerigus can KO Cursola with Poltergeist (152-179%). Incineroar threatens a KO with Knock Off (142-167%). Tyranitar's Crunch also KOs at 292-344%.

Cursola Guide
In Sword & Shield, Cursola has a 510 base stat total and ranks as B-Tier: a solid option in Sword & Shield for the right team. It works best as a wallbreaker. Shadow Ball with Choice Specs is the standard set.
In Sword & Shield, Cursola's biggest threats include Gengar (Ghost) and Houndoom (Dark), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 30 Speed, Cursola won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Weak Armor is the go-to ability for Cursola. It raises Speed and lowers Defense by one stage each upon being hit by a physical move. Its hidden ability Perish Body can work in specific setups.
In Sword & Shield, Cursola fills the wallbreaker role. It's a special attacker with base 145 Sp. Atk. Base 30 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
For Sword & Shield, the core moveset is Shadow Ball, Blizzard, Surf, and Ancientpower. Shadow Ball leads at 21% usage. This set covers the wallbreaker role with a mix of damage and utility.
Game Availability
Introduced in Sword & Shield, Cursola has appeared in 2 games across 3 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
