Mid-stage Pokemon like Clefairy rarely see competitive play outside of special formats. It's a waypoint on the road to Clefable, which is where the real potential kicks in. Can go either physical or special depending on the set. Part of the Gen 1 roster.
Nothing fancy in Clefairy's spread. It leans mixed with HP out front. And you'll get 2 HP EVs per KO for it. Follows a fast 800K XP curve.
Its adorable appearance makes it popular as a pet. However, it is rare and difficult to find.
With its magical and cute appeal, it has many admirers. It is rare and found only in certain areas.
Clefairy Weakness
GoodClefairy's Normal typing leaves it vulnerable to Fighting moves. It shrugs off Ghost-type attacks completely. Clefairy's Normal typing only leaves 1 gap to cover.
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move

STAB runs through Double-Edge and Mega Kick for the basics, but Clefairy's real strength is the 10-type coverage spread. Steel and Ice hit common defensive types, and the movepool keeps going.

At 323 BST, Clefairy is firmly in pre-evolution territory. Evolve it into Clefable before bringing it to any serious fight.
Watch for Hitmonlee (Fighting) when using Clefairy. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 35 Speed, Clefairy won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Clefairy gets Magic Guard, Cute Charm, and Friend Guard. But Magic Guard is the one that matters — it's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.
Clefairy is leaning toward the special side (base 60 Sp. Atk). But the speed tells the real story — base 35 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.
