Bulk and offense in one package. Serperior runs Leftovers for passive recovery each turn with a Timid nature, so it survives long enough to threaten with Leaf Storm. Max Sp. Atk and Speed EVs and utility options make it hard to safely switch into.

The level-up pool is slim, so TMs matter here. Serperior's Normal and Flying coverage and more all comes from technical machines, built on top of Frenzy Plant and Leaf Storm for same-type damage. Leaf Blade and Leaf Storm are the payoff moves.

Serperior isn't available in the wild in Scarlet & Violet. Start by transferring Snivy from Black, Black 2, or Omega Ruby. The evolution path from Snivy to Serperior is covered in the steps below.

How to Obtain Serperior in Scarlet & Violet

  1. Snivy
    Step 1Obtain Snivy
  2. Servine
    Step 2Evolve into Servine
  3. Serperior
    Step 3Serperior
  • Serperior looks average on paper at 528 BST. But Contrary is why it sees play. Build around that and it pulls its weight. B-Tier pivot on our tier list.

  • Watch for Blaziken (Fire), Weavile (Ice), and Roserade (Poison) when using Serperior. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Serperior gets Contrary and Overgrow. But Contrary is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.

  • Serperior is a mixed attacker with base 75 Attack and 75 Sp. Atk. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 113 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the pivot role.

  • Serperior's hidden ability is Contrary. Inverts stat changes. Better than the standard options for competitive play.

Since Black & White, Serperior has been obtainable in 7 games. A Generation 5 debut means a shorter history, but Serperior has appeared steadily across every generation since.
