Accelgor Best Moveset
Fastest non-legendary in the format at 145 base Speed. 100 Sp. Atk with Bug TermStab gives the moveset genuine offensive presence, and AbilityUnburden doubles Speed after item use for absurd levels. E-tier because Bug coverage alone is too narrow and 80/40/60 bulk dissolves on any return hit.
145 Speed with Spikes and Final Gambit in Gen V (Black & White). Set hazards fast, then Final Gambit sacrificed itself to deal HP-based damage. The sacrificial lead formula.

Accelgor best EVs are HP and Speed
Pivot Moveset
- Bug Buzz
- Final Gambit
- U Turn
- Focus Blast
Recommended Teammates
Same suicide formula in Gen VI (X & Y). Encore locked opponents into one move, and Spikes went up while they were locked. Two gens of niche utility.
Special Attacker Moveset
- Bug Buzz
- Spikes
- Signal Beam
- Substitute
Recommended Teammates
Dropped in Gen VII (Sun & Moon). Faster hazard setters appeared and the sacrificial lead role was shrinking. 145 Speed meant nothing when the format demanded more than one-and-done plays.
Special Sweeper Moveset
- Bug Buzz
- Final Gambit
- Water Shuriken
- Toxic Spikes
Recommended Teammates
Three gens of decline in Gen VIII (Sword & Shield). Final Gambit and Spikes were the entire identity. Once the format outgrew sacrificial leads, Accelgor had nothing left.
Hazard Setter Moveset
- Encore
- Toxic Spikes
- Sludge Bomb
- Final Gambit

Accelgor Weakness
Fire, Flying, and Rock moves hit Accelgor for super-effective damage. At base 145 Speed, Accelgor outspeeds most threats and doesn't need to tank what it can outrun.

Base Stats
The stat bars tell the story: Speed carries everything and Defense's dead weight. But this Shell Out Pokemon still yields 2 Speed EVs per fight on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
Discarding its shell made it nimble. To keep itself from dehydrating, it wraps its body in bands of membrane.
Accelgor Guide
Accelgor works as a sweeper with 495 BST behind it. B-Tier on our list: a solid choice for the right team. That 145 base Speed does the heavy lifting.
No. Accelgor is not catchable in the wild. It only comes from trade-evolving Shelmet. Trade needs a Game Boy Advance link cable and a second GBA running another Gen 3 game (FireRed, LeafGreen, Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald). Trade Shelmet to a friend, then have them trade it back. The 2026 Switch re-release supports the same trade through local wireless on the Pokemon Center 2F Wireless Club, with no cables required.
Hydration cures any major status ailment after each turn during rain. That's the one you want on Accelgor. Unburden is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses. Sticky Hold works too if your team needs something different.
Accelgor is a special attacker with base 100 Sp. Atk. Speed tells the real story. Base 145 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the sweeper role.
Game Availability
Since Black & White, Accelgor has been obtainable in 7 games. A Generation 5 debut means a shorter history, but Accelgor has appeared steadily across every generation since.
