Stats & Training
The stat bars tell the story: Speed carries everything and Defense's dead weight. But this Shell Out Pokemon still yields 2 Speed EVs per fight on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
Having removed its heavy shell, it becomes very light and can fight with ninja-like movements.
When its body dries out, it weakens. So, to prevent dehydration, it wraps itself in many layers of thin membrane.
Accelgor Weakness
Fire, Flying, and Rock moves hit Accelgor for super-effective damage. At base 145 Speed, Accelgor outspeeds most threats and doesn't need to tank what it can outrun.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Flying, Rock |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Grass, Fighting, Ground |
In X & Y, Zapdos's Heat Wave hits Accelgor for 83-98%. Tyranitar's Stone Edge also KOs at 281-331%.

X & Y Evolution
Accelgor evolved from Shelmet's chain using a trade. It's a non-standard trigger, so check the details below. Breed this form to get Shelmet eggs (quick to hatch). The evolution from Shelmet pushed Accelgor to 495 total stats. Speed saw the largest single gain at +120. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Breed with Accelgor to get Shelmet eggs easily using 68 partners from the Bug egg group. Notable egg moves include Baton Pass, Double-Edge, Encore and 7 more.
X & Y Accelgor Best Moveset
The recommended build leans into Accelgor's strengths as a hazard lead. Life Orb provides extra damage on every hit for a health trade, and max Sp. Atk and Speed EVs back that up. Hydration rounds out the package.

Moves
Don't skip the egg moves. Accelgor picks up Baton Pass and Double-Edge only through breeding, and both fill gaps the natural movepool can't. STAB runs through Bug Buzz and Leech Life while Poison and Fighting coverage and more adds range.

Accelgor Guide
In X & Y, Accelgor works as a sweeper with 495 BST behind it. C-Tier on our list: a niche pick in X & Y's meta. Bugbuzz with Life Orb is the standard set.
Hydration cures any major status ailment after each turn during rain. That's the one you want on Accelgor. Unburden is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses. Sticky Hold works too if your team needs something different.
Accelgor is leaning toward the special side (base 100 Sp. Atk). Speed tells the real story. Base 145 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the sweeper role.
For X & Y, Accelgor has answers, but so do you. Priority moves (Mach Punch, Aqua Jet, Ice Shard) bypass its speed. Bulky walls that resist its STAB also shut it down.
Game Availability
Since Black & White, Accelgor has been obtainable in 7 games. A Generation 5 debut means a shorter history, but Accelgor has appeared steadily across every generation since.
