As a Fire-type, Typhlosion fills a straightforward role. Only weak to Water, Ground, and Rock. Known as the Volcano Pokémon. Clears the crowded base-100 Speed benchmark. Known as the Volcano Pokemon.

The stat budget goes to damage. Sp. Atk and Speed carry the offense, HP doesn't even come close. A Volcano Pokemon on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve, worth 3 Sp. Atk EVs per KO.

You're catching Cyndaquil first, not Typhlosion. Cyndaquil appears but it's a rare spawn in the encounters below. The step cards map the full 3-stage chain with evolution methods between each stage.

  • Flash Fire changes the entire equation for Typhlosion. The 534 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked B-Tier as a sweeper.

  • Watch for Starmie (Water) and Golem (Ground) when using Typhlosion. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Rock-type attackers are also a problem.

  • Quilava evolves into Typhlosion at level 36. Typhlosion is the final evolution in a 4-stage line starting from Cyndaquil. At 534 BST, it's got solid stats to work with.

  • Base 100 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. On offense, Typhlosion is a mixed attacker — base 84 Attack and 109 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a sweeper.

  • Typhlosion appears in 17 games, including Gold & Silver, Crystal, and Ruby & Sapphire.

Since debuting in Gold & Silver, Typhlosion has appeared in 17 titles over 8 generations. Along the way, it received a Hisuian form in Generation 8, keeping it relevant across different competitive metas.
