Flaaffy Weakness

Flaaffy is weak to Ground. Its Electric typing keeps the defensive matchups simple. Only 1 weakness makes it relatively easy to build around defensively.

Moves

Egg moves make a real difference. Flaaffy gets Body Slam and Reflect exclusively through breeding, filling gaps that TMs and level-up can't touch. Normal and Fighting coverage and more rounds out the picture alongside Zap Cannon and Thunder.

Flaaffy Guide

  • In Gold & Silver, Flaaffy isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Ampharos to unlock its full potential. At 365 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.

  • In Gold & Silver, Flaaffy's biggest threats include Golem (Ground), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • In Gold & Silver, Mareep evolves into Flaaffy at level 15. Flaaffy evolves into Ampharos at level 30. Flaaffy is a middle-stage evolution in the Mareep line.

  • In Gold & Silver, Flaaffy fills the balanced role. It's a special attacker with base 80 Sp. Atk. Base 45 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.

  • In Gold & Silver, Flaaffy does the job early-game if you need a Electric type on your team. Evolve it into Ampharos before the later gyms and it holds up fine through the story.

Game Availability

Flaaffy first appeared in Gold & Silver and has been available in 17 games across 9 generations. Obtainable through catching or hatching as a base form in most titles where it appears.
