Don't let the NFE status fool you. Turtwig with Eviolite hits bulk numbers that compete with final forms. Spread EVs and Adamant nature maximize that, and Shellarmor handles the rest.

Without TMs, Turtwig's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get Normal and Dark coverage and more on top of Leaf Storm and Solar Beam for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.

All 12 games

Turtwig can't be caught in Scarlet & Violet. Bring it over from Diamond, Platinum, or Legends: Arceus instead. The encounter info below covers the source games.

Turtwig is not available as a wild encounter in this game.

Also found in:

  • Grotle at level 18 is the mid-stage. Push through to Torterra at level 32 for the final form. 318 BST right now won't cut it long-term.

  • Level 18 gets you Grotle. Quick enough that Turtwig barely slows you down.

  • Turtwig does the job early-game if you need a Grass type on your team. Evolve it into Grotle before the later gyms and it holds up fine through the story.

  • Across 12 games, Turtwig has solid availability. First showed up in Scarlet & Violet. The latest games to include it are Platinum and HeartGold & SoulSilver.

Turtwig first appeared in Diamond & Pearl and has been available in 12 games across 7 generations. Obtainable through catching or hatching as a base form in most titles where it appears.
