Dropped in Gen V (Black & White). Land form couldn't match Sky form's 127 Speed and flinch rate. 100/100/100 was decent but unremarkable in a format full of stronger options.
Special Sweeper Moveset
- Earth Power
- Seed Flare
- Aromatherapy
- Hidden Power Ice

Between tiers in Gen VI (X & Y). Seed Flare and Healing Wish support were useful but not enough to compete at the level above.
Special Tank Moveset
- Earth Power
- Seed Flare
- Air Slash
- Dazzling Gleam
Recommended Teammates
Three gens of decline by Gen VII (Sun & Moon). Grass typing with 100 Speed wasn't fast enough, and better support Pokemon took the team slot.
Special Sweeper Moveset
- Seed Flare
- Earth Power
- Air Slash
- Rest
Recommended Teammates
Fell to the bottom in Gen IX (Scarlet & Violet) after missing Sword & Shield. Four gens of decline. The Land form was always the lesser Shaymin.

- Seed Flare
- Leech Seed
- Air Slash

Shaymin Weakness
Shaymin is weak to Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Bug. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Shaymin's overall bulk (100/100/100) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.

Base Stats
Shaymin's stats barely vary. 6 sit in respectable range with no real gaps. It's a blank slate for EV investment. Worth 3 HP EVs, 1.06M XP medium-slow curve to max.
Upon taking in the scent of a particular rare flower, Shaymin is enveloped in light, and its tiny body transforms. I took a whiff of the flower myself, but alas, my body remained unchanged.
Shaymin Guide
Shaymin is a Mythical Pokemon rated B-Tier. At 600 BST, it hits hard. It excels as a sweeper. Base 100 HP is where it shines.
Shaymin's biggest threats include Charizard (Fire), Cloyster (Ice), and Crobat (Poison), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. Shaymin has enough bulk to absorb a hit, but don't push the matchup. Pivot to a teammate that resists.
Run Natural Cure on Shaymin. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. With base 100 Speed, Natural Cure gives Shaymin an edge before opponents can react.
Shaymin fills the sweeper role. It's a special attacker with base 100 Sp. Atk. Base 100 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. And it's tanky enough to absorb a few hits.
The core moveset is Earthpower, Seedflare, Leech Seed, and Air Slash. Earthpower leads at 0% usage. This set covers the sweeper role with a mix of damage and utility.
Game Availability
As a Mythical Pokemon, Shaymin has limited availability — 12 games since its debut in Diamond & Pearl. Typically obtained through special events or in-game quests rather than standard encounters.
