Ground moves don't affect Ledian at all — that's the advantage of Bug/Flying typing. It sits at a decent but contested Speed tier. Introduced in Gen 2. Known as the Five Star Pokemon.
Sp. Def and Speed carry most of Ledian's stat budget. Attack's the obvious dump stat. Moderately hard to find and yields 2 Sp. Def EVs. Follows a fast 800K XP curve.
It is said that in lands with clean air, where the stars fill the sky, there live LEDIAN in countless numbers. There is a good reason for this - the POKéMON uses the light of the stars as its energy.
Ledian Weakness
VulnerableType-wise, Ledian takes extra damage from Rock, Fire, Electric, Ice, and Flying. Watch out for Rock attacks, those deal 4x damage. Ground moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. Ledian's special bulk (base 110 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move
Evolved from Ledyba. Ledian is the final form in this two-stage line. A decent partner pool for breeding via one egg group. Eggs are quick to hatch. Sp.Def grew the most through evolution (+30 over Ledyba), and Ledian peaks at 390 total stats.
How to Evolve
Breed with Ledian to get Ledyba eggs easily using 37 partners from the Bug egg group. Notable egg moves include Bide, Psybeam, Silver Wind.
This is a pure walling set. Leftovers provides passive recovery each turn so Ledian sticks around, and the Calm nature reinforces special wall. The moveset handles sustain while Swarm does work passively.

Breeding's the move. Bide and Psybeam give Ledian options it can't learn any other way, and Normal and Fighting coverage and more already covers a decent range on top of Aerial Ace and Silver Wind. The egg moves push it further.

Step 2Ledian ✓
We rate Ledian C-Tier — a situational pick that fills a niche. At 390 BST, the stats are spread pretty evenly. Base 110 Sp. Def stands out.
Ledian's biggest threats include Aerodactyl (Rock), Charizard (Fire), and Raikou (Electric), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Aerodactyl is the most dangerous since Rock moves deal 4x damage. Ice and Flying-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.
Ledyba evolves into Ledian at level 18. Ledian is the fully evolved form.
Swarm is the go-to ability for Ledian. It strengthens bug moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. Its hidden ability Iron Fist can work in specific setups. Early Bird is the other option — pick based on what your team needs.
Base 85 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Ledian is leaning toward the special side (base 55 Sp. Atk). Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.
Ledian appears in 15 games, including Gold & Silver, Crystal, and Ruby & Sapphire.
Available in 15 titles since its debut in Gold & Silver, Ledian spans 8 generations of Pokemon games. It's accessible through wild encounters in most mainline games.
