While most trainers evolve Gimmighoul into Gholdengo immediately, the unevolved form has a niche with Eviolite boosting its defenses. Normal and Fighting moves can't touch it, and only 2 types hit it super-effectively. Known as the Coin Chest Pokemon.
Gimmighoul's spread isn't flashy. Sp. Atk leads, Speed trails, 0 stats clear the bar. Tough to catch and worth 1 Sp. Atk EV, on a slow 1.25M XP grind.
This Pokémon was born from passion that seeped into a coin. It wanders, apparently seeking to return to the treasure chest it once inhabited.
It wanders around, carrying an old coin on its back. It survives by draining the life-force from humans who try to pick up its coin.
Gimmighoul Weakness
ExcellentGimmighoul's Ghost typing leaves it vulnerable to Ghost and Dark moves. It shrugs off Normal and Fighting-type attacks completely. Only 2 weaknesses makes it relatively easy to build around defensively.
A Ghost type with 300 stats, Gimmighoul has a chain leading to Gholdengo. Breeding won't work. The evolved forms gain up to 250 total stats over Gimmighoul.
How to Evolve
the remaining moves is what separates a good sweep from a wasted boost. After Nasty Plot, Gimmighoul threatens a wide range with a spread EV build EVs and Eviolite backing every hit.

Gimmighoul's options are limited here. You've got Shadow Ball for STAB damage, but there isn't much beyond Ghost hitting power. TMs help fill gaps, though the kit stays tight.

Gimmighoul isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Gholdengo to unlock its full potential. At 300 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.
Watch for Chandelure (Ghost) and Hydreigon (Dark) when using Gimmighoul. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 10 Speed, Gimmighoul won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Gimmighoul evolves into Gholdengo through a special method. Gimmighoul is the base form of this evolutionary line.
Rattled raises Speed one stage upon being hit by a dark, ghost, or bug move — that's the one you want on Gimmighoul. It's the only ability Gimmighoul has.
Gimmighoul fills the balanced role. It's a special attacker with base 75 Sp. Atk. Base 10 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.
Gimmighoul can be found in Legends: Z-A and Scarlet & Violet.
Introduced in Scarlet & Violet, Gimmighoul has appeared in 2 games across 1 generation. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
