Froakie sits at the start of its evolution line — not yet at full power, but that changes fast. Most trainers push through to Greninja as fast as possible. Part of the Gen 6 roster. Only weak to Electric and Grass.
Nothing fancy in Froakie's spread. It leans mixed with Speed out front. And you'll get 1 Speed EV per KO for it. Follows a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
It secretes flexible bubbles from its chest and back. The bubbles reduce the damage it would otherwise take when attacked.
It protects its skin by covering its body in delicate bubbles. Beneath its happy-go-lucky air, it keeps a watchful eye on its surroundings.
Froakie Weakness
GoodFroakie is weak to Electric and Grass-type moves. The Water typing picks up 4 resistances to work with. Froakie's Water typing only leaves 2 gaps to cover.
Froakie kicks off a three-stage evolution line through Frogadier all the way to Greninja. For breeding, average hatch time with no compatible partners via one egg group. Evolving adds up to 216 stat points total.
How to Evolve
Breed Froakie from the Water1 egg group.
You commit to a move every time Froakie comes in. Choice Scarf gives speed patching through item lock, and Protean adds to that. A spread EV build EVs make sure the locked move actually hurts. The remaining moves covers the rest.

Most of Froakie's flexibility comes from TMs. Same-type output runs through Hydro Pump and Surf, but Normal and Ghost and the rest of the TM pool push it from predictable to genuinely threatening.

At 314 BST, Froakie is firmly in pre-evolution territory. Evolve it into Frogadier before bringing it to any serious fight.
Froakie evolves into Frogadier at level 16. Froakie is the base form in a 3-stage evolutionary line.
Froakie gets Protean and Torrent. But Protean is the one that matters — it's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.
Froakie is a special attacker with base 62 Sp. Atk. Fragile — can't afford to take many hits, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 71 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many. Fits the hazard setter role.
Froakie appears in 6 games, including X & Y, Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon.
Since X & Y, Froakie has been obtainable in 6 games. A Generation 6 debut means a shorter history, but Froakie has appeared steadily across every generation since.
