Everything about Dragapult's stat line is built to win. 142 base Speed leads the way, and even its worst stat (75 Defense) isn't a real liability. Normal and Fighting moves can't touch it, which offsets the 5 weaknesses somewhat. Known as the Stealth Pokemon.

Everything pushes toward mixed damage here. Dragapult's Speed does the work, Defense pays the price. But you're still getting 3 Speed EVs per KO. Tough to catch, on a slow 1.25M XP grind.

Dragapult can make its whole body transparent by clearing its mind and focusing. Even the Dreepy in Dragapult’s horns become invisible.

Scarlet

The fastest Dragapult of the group is always surrounded by Dreepy that want to fly at sonic speed.

Dragapult Weakness

Good

Dragapult's Dragon/Ghost typing leaves it vulnerable to Ice, Ghost, Dragon, Dark, and Fairy moves. It shrugs off Normal and Fighting-type attacks completely. It resists 6 types, so it can switch into a lot of moves safely.

The three-stage chain from Dreepy through Drakloak ends here at Dragapult. Want more? Breed for Dreepy eggs. Plenty of partners available via two egg groups. The evolution from Dreepy pushed Dragapult to 600 total stats. HP saw the largest single gain at +60.

Prediction matters here. Choice Specs means Dragapult can't change moves after clicking, but the payoff is boosted special damage with move lock. Max Sp. Atk and Speed EVs with Infiltrator back that up. The remaining moves prevents free switches.

The natural movepool does the job, but Confuse Ray and Curse from the egg pool give Dragapult something extra. Pair those with Draco Meteor and Outrage for STAB and coverage across 9 types for reach, and the kit fills out nicely.

  3. Dragapult
    Step 3Dragapult
  • Dragapult works as a sweeper with 600 BST behind it. A-Tier on our list — a strong competitive pick. That 142 base Speed does the heavy lifting.

  • Watch for Walrein (Ice), Gengar (Ghost), and Kingdra (Dragon) when using Dragapult. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Dark and Fairy-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Drakloak evolves into Dragapult at level 60. Dragapult is the final evolution in a 3-stage line starting from Dreepy. With 600 BST, it's a powerhouse in its final form.

  • Clear Body prevents stats from being lowered by other Pokémon — that's the one you want on Dragapult. Cursed Body is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses. Infiltrator works too if your team needs something different.

  • Dragapult is a physical attacker with base 120 Attack. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 142 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the sweeper role.

  • Dragapult can be found in Scarlet & Violet and Sword & Shield.

Since Sword & Shield, Dragapult has been obtainable in 2 games. A Generation 8 debut means a shorter history, but Dragapult has appeared steadily across every generation since.
