It throws one knifelike feather after another at its enemies, and each one precisely strikes a weak point. These feathers are known as blade quills.

Dartrix Weakness

Dartrix's Grass/Flying typing leaves it vulnerable to Ice, Fire, Poison, Flying, and Rock. Ice hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Ground-type attacks completely.

How to Get Dartrix in Sword & Shield

Dartrix isn't available in the wild in Sword & Shield. Start by transferring Rowlet from Sun, Ultra Sun, or Legends: Arceus. The evolution path from Rowlet to Dartrix is covered in the steps below.

Dartrix Guide

  • In Sword & Shield, Dartrix isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Decidueye to unlock its full potential. At 420 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.

  • In Sword & Shield, watch for Weavile (Ice), Infernape (Fire), and Salazzle (Poison) when using Dartrix. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Weavile is the most dangerous since Ice moves deal 4x damage. Flying and Rock-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • In Sword & Shield, Rowlet evolves into Dartrix at level 17. Dartrix can evolve into Decidueye and Hisuian Decidueye depending on the method. Dartrix is a middle-stage evolution in the Rowlet line.

  • Overgrow strengthens grass moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. That's the one you want on Dartrix. Long Reach is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.

  • In Sword & Shield, Dartrix fills the balanced role. It's a mixed attacker with base 75 Attack and 70 Sp. Atk. At base 52 Speed, it won't be moving first often. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

Game Availability

Introduced in Sun & Moon, Dartrix has appeared in 5 games across 4 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
