Cosmoem sits in the middle of its evolution line — stronger than Cosmog but not yet at full power. Most trainers push through to Solgaleo as fast as possible. Flexible enough to run physical or special sets. Introduced in Gen 7.

Defense leads and Attack gets almost nothing. That's Cosmoem's stat line in a nutshell. 2 stats sit in respectable range, but the spread is brutal. Tough to catch and yields 2 Defense and Sp. Def EVs.

The absorption of starlight fuels this Pokémon’s growth. The shell that encases it is harder than any known material.

Sword

It sucks in dust from the air at an astounding rate, frantically building up energy within its core as preparation for evolution.

Type-wise, Cosmoem takes extra damage from Bug, Ghost, and Dark. Cosmoem's overall bulk (43/131/131) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.

Not a lot to pick from. Cosmoem gets Psychic STAB for same-type damage, and limited coverage rounds things out. You're building around what's available rather than choosing from a deep bench.

No wild encounters for Cosmoem in Scarlet & Violet. Bring Cosmog over from Sun or Ultra Sun, then level through the stages. Each step in the chain is laid out below.

How to Obtain Cosmoem in Scarlet & Violet

  • Cosmoem is a Legendary Pokemon rated C-Tier on our tier list. At 400 BST, it hits hard. It excels as a balanced. Base 131 Defense stands out.

  • Cosmoem's biggest threats include Volcarona (Bug), Misdreavus (Ghost), and Absol (Dark), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. At base 37 Speed, Cosmoem won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • Cosmog evolves into Cosmoem at level 43. Cosmoem can evolve into Solgaleo and Lunala depending on the method. Cosmoem is a middle-stage evolution in the Cosmog line.

  • Sturdy is the go-to ability for Cosmoem. It prevents being KOed from full HP, leaving 1 HP instead. It's Cosmoem's only ability.

  • Base 37 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Cosmoem is leaning toward the physical side (base 29 Attack). Defensively? Tanky enough to absorb a few hits.

  • Cosmoem can be found in Scarlet & Violet, Sword & Shield, Sun & Moon, and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon.

First obtainable in Sun & Moon, Cosmoem has been featured in 4 titles across 3 generations. Legendary status means a single encounter per playthrough in most games.
