Almost nobody uses Chewtle in battle. It exists to evolve into Drednaw, which is a completely different story. Get it there and you won't regret it. Only weak to Electric and Grass. Known as the Snapping Pokemon.
Nothing fancy in Chewtle's spread. It leans physical with Attack out front. And you'll get 1 Attack EV per KO for it. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
Its large front tooth is still growing in. When the tooth itches, this Pokémon will bite another Chewtle’s horn, and the two Pokémon will tussle.
A popular game among children is to lift up sticks that Chewtle have bitten onto to see whose Chewtle can hang on the longest.
Chewtle Weakness
GoodElectric and Grass-type moves hit Chewtle for super-effective damage. The Water typing picks up 4 resistances to work with. Chewtle's Water typing only leaves 2 gaps to cover.
Chewtle is the base form in a two-stage line leading to Drednaw. Check the evolution method below. Plenty of partners for breeding via two egg groups. Eggs are average hatch time. The evolved forms gain up to 201 total stats over Chewtle.
How to Evolve
The recommended build leans into Chewtle's strengths as a physical attacker. White Herb provides a one-time stat drop reset, and a spread EV build EVs back that up. Strongjaw rounds out the package.

The level-up pool is slim, so TMs matter here. Chewtle's coverage across 8 types all comes from technical machines, built on top of Hydro Pump and Surf for same-type damage. Hydro Pump and Surf are the payoff moves.

Don't skip the egg moves. Chewtle picks up Dragon Tail and Gastro Acid only through breeding, and both fill gaps the natural movepool can't. STAB runs through Hydro Pump and Surf while coverage across 7 types adds range.
Chewtle is available from early-game routes onward at high spawn rates. 62 encounter spots give you plenty of options. Grab one early and it'll be ready to evolve or train by mid-game.

At 284 BST, Chewtle is firmly in pre-evolution territory. Evolve it into Drednaw before bringing it to any serious fight.
Chewtle evolves into Drednaw at level 22. Chewtle is the base form of this evolutionary line.
Chewtle gets Swift Swim, Strong Jaw, and Shell Armor. But Swift Swim is the one that matters — it's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.
Chewtle is a physical attacker with base 64 Attack. Fragile — can't afford to take many hits, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 44 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.
Chewtle can be found in Scarlet & Violet and Sword & Shield.
Since Sword & Shield, Chewtle has been obtainable in 2 games. A Generation 8 debut means a shorter history, but Chewtle has appeared steadily across every generation since.
