Cascoon sits in the middle of its evolution line — stronger than Wurmple but not yet at full power. Most trainers push through to Dustox as fast as possible. Only weak to Fire, Flying, and Rock. Known as the Cocoon Pokemon.
Defense and HP carry most of Cascoon's stat budget. Speed's the obvious dump stat. Common in the wild and yields 2 Defense EVs. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
Its body, which is made of soft silk, hardens over time. When cracks appear, evolution is near.
Cascoon Weakness
AvgCascoon is weak to Fire, Flying, and Rock-type moves. Cascoon's physical bulk (base 55 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move
From here, Cascoon's line branches into Silcoon and Cascoon. That's 2 possible evolutions, each with its own method. Defense has grown the most so far (+20), but there's still another 190 stats to gain in the final evolution.

Not a lot to pick from. Cascoon gets Bug STAB for same-type damage, and Poison and Normal coverage rounds things out. You're building around what's available rather than choosing from a deep bench.

Cascoon is meant to evolve into Beautifly. At 205 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
Shed Skin is the go-to ability for Cascoon. It has a 33% chance of curing any major status ailment after each turn. It's Cascoon's only ability.
Base 15 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Cascoon is leaning toward the physical side (base 35 Attack). Defensively? Fragile — can't afford to take many hits.
Cascoon appears in 14 games, including Ruby & Sapphire, FireRed & LeafGreen, and Emerald.
Available in 14 titles since its debut in Ruby & Sapphire, Cascoon spans 7 generations of Pokemon games. It's accessible through catching or hatching as a base form in a solid number of games.
