Buizel is technically a pre-evolution of Floatzel, but it holds its own in formats where Eviolite is allowed. Swift Swim doubles its Speed in rain, adding extra value. Only weak to Electric and Grass. Known as the Sea Weasel Pokemon.
Speed and Attack carry most of Buizel's stat budget. Sp. Def's the obvious dump stat. Common in the wild and yields 1 Speed EV. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
It moves freely in the water by spinning its forked tail for propulsion. The resemblance to the screw of a steamboat is coincidental.
Buizel Weakness
GoodType-wise, Buizel takes extra damage from Electric and Grass. 4 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Just 2 weak spots to worry about, which keeps teambuilding straightforward.
One evolution ahead. Buizel grows into Floatzel through a straightforward two-stage chain. Plenty of partners for breeding via two egg groups. Eggs are average hatch time. Evolving adds up to 165 stat points total.

Not a lot to pick from. Buizel gets Hydro Pump and Aqua Tail for same-type damage, and Normal and Ice coverage and more rounds things out. You're building around what's available rather than choosing from a deep bench.

Buizel evolves into Floatzel at level 26. Buizel is the base form of this evolutionary line.
Swift Swim is what you want on Buizel. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Water Veil) work on paper but Swift Swim is what makes Buizel worth using.
Base 85 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Buizel is leaning toward the physical side (base 65 Attack). Defensively? Fragile — can't afford to take many hits.
