Spiritomb was practically built for Trick Room teams. 108 base Defense provides real offensive pressure once it's 'fastest' on the field. Normal, Fighting, and Psychic moves can't touch it, and only a single type hits it super-effectively. Known as the Forbidden Pokemon.

Bulk defines Spiritomb's stat line. Defense and Sp. Def anchor the defensive side, but Speed can't keep up offensively. Moderately hard to find and worth 2 Defense and Sp. Def EVs.

Its constant mischief and misdeeds resulted in it being bound to an Odd Keystone by a mysterious spell.

Scarlet

It was formed by uniting 108 spirits. It has been bound to the Odd Keystone to keep it from doing any mischief.

Spiritomb Weakness

Fortress

Type-wise, Spiritomb takes extra damage from Fairy. Normal, Fighting, and Psychic moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. With 50 HP and balanced defenses, Spiritomb can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.

One boost from Nasty Plot and Spiritomb gets dangerous fast. The Quiet nature targets max HP and Sp. Atk, and Infiltrator backs the whole approach. Dark Pulse and Psychic coverage handle most of what's left standing.

TMs carry this one. Spiritomb learns Poltergeist and Foul Play naturally for STAB, but the offensive range comes almost entirely from technical machines. Psychic and Normal and beyond give it real matchup play.

Spiritomb can't be caught in Scarlet & Violet. Bring it over from Diamond, Platinum, or Omega Ruby instead. The encounter info below covers the source games.

Spiritomb is not available as a wild encounter in this game.

Also found in:

  • We rate Spiritomb B-Tier — a solid choice for the right team. At 485 BST, it fits the trick room role. Base 108 Defense stands out.

  • Spiritomb's biggest threats include Gardevoir (Fairy), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 35 Speed, Spiritomb won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • Spiritomb doesn't evolve and has no evolutionary line. It's a Ghost/Dark-type Pokemon with a 485 base stat total.

  • Pressure is the go-to ability for Spiritomb. It increases the PP cost of moves targetting the Pokémon by one. Its hidden ability Infiltrator can work in specific setups.

  • Base 35 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Spiritomb is a special attacker with base 92 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a trick room.

  • Spiritomb appears in 13 games, including Platinum, HeartGold & SoulSilver, and Diamond & Pearl.

Available in 13 titles since its debut in Diamond & Pearl, Spiritomb spans 6 generations of Pokemon games. It's accessible through wild encounters in a solid number of games.
