Is Tauros Good in FireRed & LeafGreen Playthrough?
The Intimidate upgrade transforms Tauros in the remake. AbilityIntimidate drops the opponent's Attack on every switch-in. The Speed and physical Attack are still excellent. Handles most neutral matchups through raw Normal damage and the entry-level Attack softening. Safari Zone catch with a low encounter rate. Worth the hunt.

Tauros Weakness
Tauros is weak to Fighting. On the flip side, it's immune to Ghost-type moves entirely. Tauros's physical bulk (base 95 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fighting |
| 0x (Immune) | Ghost |
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move

The TM pool is where it gets interesting. Coverage across 10 types means almost nothing walls Tauros cleanly, with Hyper Beam and Thrash anchoring the STAB side. Matchup flexibility isn't a problem.

Tauros FireRed & LeafGreen Guide
- How do I catch Tauros in the FireRed & LeafGreen Safari Zone?
See the Locations section above for where to find Tauros in FireRed & LeafGreen.
Safari rules: You can only use Safari Balls. No battling. Two tactical items shift the catch/flee trade-off:
Action Catch chance per ball Flee rate per turn Default 7% 45% Bait 7% (floor) 10% Rock 15% 90% Effects last 2-6 random turns; throwing one cancels the other. Catch chance assumes full HP and a Safari Ball (the only ball allowed). (floor) = halving was clamped at the catch-factor floor of 3, so catch chance does not change.
