Stantler cannot be caught in this game. It must be traded in from a compatible game where it appears in the wild. On GBA, cross-region trading unlocks post-game after Celio's Sevii Islands Ruby & Sapphire quest. The Switch re-release supports only one-way transfers out to Pokemon HOME.

How to Get Stantler in FireRed & LeafGreen

Stantler has no FireRed or LeafGreen encounter data. Trade one in from a Hoenn game, since neither version produces the deer wild. Import is the only path to the Pokedex entry.

Stantler cannot be caught in the wild in FireRed & LeafGreen, but you can still get it via these paths:

Pokemon HOME · Switch Rerelease

Playing the Switch version of FireRed & LeafGreen? Pokemon HOME compatibility is post-launch but deposit-only by design (FRLG → HOME). Inbound HOME transfer of Stantler into FRLG is not possible — an original GBA cartridge with a Link Cable is the only inbound route.

Catch in the wild and trade from these games:

Then trade to FireRed & LeafGreen.

Also Obtainable In:

Direct cartridge trade across generations isn't possible — but the Pokemon HOME path above bridges this gap once Switch support launches.

Stantler Weakness

Type-wise, Stantler takes extra damage from Fighting. Ghost moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. Sap Sipper grants an additional Grass immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Stantler leans offensive (base 95 Atk) rather than trying to tank its weaknesses.

The egg pool carries weight here. Bite and Disable aren't available any other way for Stantler, and they meaningfully change what it threatens. Stack those on top of Double-Edge and Take Down for solid options.

Those who stare at its antlers will gradually lose control of their senses and be unable to stand.

Its curved antlers subtly change the flow of air to create a strange space where reality is distorted.

Stantler FireRed & LeafGreen Guide

  • No. Stantler isn't catchable in FireRed & LeafGreen. Catch one in Emerald, then trade it over.

Game Availability

Stantler has been available in 17 games since Gold & Silver, though obtaining it requires an item-based evolution. This extra step makes it less common than Pokemon found through standard wild encounters.
