Is Sneasel Good in FireRed & LeafGreen Playthrough?
Dark/Ice with AbilityInner Focus or AbilityKeen Eye. Both Dark and Ice are Special in Gen 3 and Sneasel's strength is physical Attack. The phys/spec mismatch limits both types of damage. Fast but can't use its best stat for its own moves.
Transfer Only Pokemon reflect GBA cartridge availability via Link Cable from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. The Nintendo Switch remake will support these once Pokémon HOME transfer launches.

How to Get Sneasel in FireRed & LeafGreen
Sneasel is LeafGreen exclusive. Two walking encounters, both flagged rare. FireRed players can't catch this ice-type without a LeafGreen trade, and the rare tag keeps even LeafGreen hunts thin.

Encountered via tall grass encounters
Sneasel Weakness
Sneasel's Dark/Ice typing leaves it vulnerable to Fighting, Fire, Bug, Rock, and Steel. Fighting hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Psychic-type attacks completely. At base 115 Speed, Sneasel outspeeds most threats and doesn't need to tank what it can outrun.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Fighting |
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Bug, Rock, Steel |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Ice, Ghost, Dark |
| 0x (Immune) | Psychic |
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move

Sneasel Evolutions
Sneasel doesn't evolve, so breeding's where the action is. You'll find a massive partner pool across one egg group, and eggs are average hatch time. It's got 7 egg moves worth looking into. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.

FRLG Sneasel Best Moveset
115 Speed with 95 Attack on a Dark/Ice frame. AbilityInner Focus prevents flinch. Dark is special and Ice is special in this format, stranding both types from the stronger physical stat. The moveset fights the type system: fast physical power with no physical TermStab to match it.

Moves List
The natural movepool does the job, but Bite and Counter from the egg pool give Sneasel something extra. Pair those with Blizzard and Ice Beam for STAB and coverage across 8 types for reach, and the kit fills out nicely.
