Ghost moves don't affect Stoutland at all — that's the advantage of Normal typing. Intimidate lowers the opponent's Attack on switch-in. Known as the Big-Hearted Pokemon. Introduced in Gen 5.

Attack and Defense carry most of Stoutland's stat budget. Sp. Atk's the obvious dump stat. Tough to catch and yields 3 Attack EVs. Follows a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.

It pays no mind to the cold, thanks to its long warm coat. Stoutland in Alola look a little uncomfortable.

Stoutland Weakness

Good

Stoutland is weak to Fighting-type moves. On the flip side, it's immune to Ghost-type moves entirely. With 85 HP and balanced defenses, Stoutland can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.

Adamant nature gives Stoutland the physical lean it needs to trade hits effectively. Assault Vest adds a special bulk boost with no status moves allowed, flexible EVs EVs split the difference, and Fighting coverage punishes anything trying to wall it.

Take Down and Last Resort bring the raw damage. But Stoutland also picks up coverage across 13 types from TMs, making it tough to find a safe switch. You're not locked into one angle here.

  3. Stoutland
    Step 3Stoutland
  • Intimidate changes the entire equation for Stoutland. The 500 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier as an attacker.

  • Stoutland's biggest threats include Lucario (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • Herdier evolves into Stoutland at level 32. Stoutland is the final evolution in a 3-stage line starting from Lillipup. At 500 BST, it's got solid stats to work with.

  • Intimidate is what you want on Stoutland. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Sand Rush, Scrappy) work on paper but Intimidate is what makes Stoutland worth using.

  • Base 80 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Stoutland is a physical attacker with base 110 Attack. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as an attacker.

  • Stoutland appears in 7 games, including Black & White, Black 2 & White 2, and X & Y.

Stoutland joined the series in Black & White and has been available in 7 titles so far. With 5 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
