Almost nobody uses Spearow in battle. It exists to evolve into Fearow, which is a completely different story. Get it there and you won't regret it. Been around since Gen 1. Ground and Ghost moves can't touch it, and only 3 types hit it super-effectively.
Spearow's spread isn't flashy. Speed leads, Defense trails, 0 stats clear the bar. Easy to catch and worth 1 Speed EV, on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
It flaps its small wings busily to fly. Using its beak, it searches in grass for prey.
Spearow Weakness
GoodElectric, Ice, and Rock-type moves hit Spearow for super-effective damage. The upside? Ground and Ghost-type moves can't touch it at all.
Spearow evolves into Fearow. It's a two-stage chain with the method shown below. Plenty of partners for breeding via one egg group. Eggs are quick to hatch. The evolved forms gain up to 180 total stats over Spearow.

Spearow develops a solid moveset just through leveling. Take Down and Fly show up naturally, and the progression handles both STAB and utility without leaning on TMs for the core attacks.

Tutor Moves
Spearow's movepool balances level-up moves with TM options. Consistent STAB comes from Fly and Drill Peck, and Ground and Bug coverage keeps opponents from switching in for free. No major gaps here.
Without breeding, Spearow misses out on Astonish and Feather Dance. That's 11 egg moves adding depth that the base kit lacks. STAB comes from Sky Attack and Double-Edge, with coverage across 7 types rounding things out.
