Almost nobody uses Spearow in battle. It exists to evolve into Fearow, which is a completely different story. Get it there and you won't regret it. Been around since Gen 1. Ground and Ghost moves can't touch it, and only 3 types hit it super-effectively.
Spearow's spread isn't flashy. Speed leads, Defense trails, 0 stats clear the bar. Easy to catch and worth 1 Speed EV, on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
Very protective of its territory, it flaps its short wings busily to dart around at high speed.
Eats bugs in grassy areas. It has to flap its short wings at high speed to stay airborne.
Spearow Weakness
GoodElectric, Ice, and Rock-type moves hit Spearow for super-effective damage. The upside? Ground and Ghost-type moves can't touch it at all.
Spearow evolves into Fearow. It's a two-stage chain with the method shown below. No compatible partners for breeding via one egg group. Eggs are quick to hatch. The evolved forms gain up to 180 total stats over Spearow.
How to Evolve
Breed Spearow easily from the Flying egg group. Pass egg moves like Astonish, Feather Dance, Feint Attack and 8 more to offspring.

Without breeding, Spearow misses out on Astonish and Feather Dance. That's 11 egg moves adding depth that the base kit lacks. STAB comes from Sky Attack and Double-Edge, with Dark and Steel coverage and more rounding things out.

Spearow isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Fearow to unlock its full potential. At 262 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.
Watch for Raikou (Electric), Lapras (Ice), and Aerodactyl (Rock) when using Spearow. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB.
Spearow evolves into Fearow at level 20. Spearow is the base form of this evolutionary line.
Keen Eye prevents accuracy from being lowered — that's the one you want on Spearow. Sniper is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.
Spearow fills the balanced role. It's a physical attacker with base 60 Attack. Base 70 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many. And it's fragile — can't afford to take many hits.
