Almost nobody uses Sentret in battle. It exists to evolve into Furret, which is a completely different story. Get it there and you won't regret it. Part of the Gen 2 roster. Ghost moves can't touch it, and only a single type hits it super-effectively.

Nothing fancy in Sentret's spread. It leans mixed with Attack out front. And you'll get 1 Attack EV per KO for it. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.

Sentret Weakness

Good

Fighting-type moves hit Sentret for super-effective damage. The upside? Ghost-type moves can't touch it at all. Sentret's Normal typing only leaves 1 gap to cover.

Sentret requires the PokeRadar to encounter, and that means specific conditions at 1 spots across the map. These become available in early-game encounter areas. Check the list below for exact locations and how to trigger each one.

HARD
  • At 215 BST, Sentret is firmly in pre-evolution territory. Evolve it into Furret before bringing it to any serious fight.

  • Watch for Hitmonlee (Fighting) when using Sentret. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 20 Speed, Sentret won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • Sentret evolves into Furret at level 15. Sentret is the base form of this evolutionary line.

  • Run Away ensures success fleeing from wild battles — that's the one you want on Sentret. Frisk is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses. Keen Eye works too if your team needs something different.

  • Sentret is leaning toward the physical side (base 46 Attack). Fragile — can't afford to take many hits, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 20 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.

  • Sentret appears in 16 games, including Gold & Silver, Crystal, and Ruby & Sapphire.

Debuting in Gold & Silver, Sentret appears in 16 games across 8 generations. A reliable presence in most mainline games, typically found through catching or hatching as a base form.
