How to access additional Pokemon in X & Y

Kalos splits its regional dex into three sub-dexes (Central, Coastal, Mountain) totaling 457 species. That's one of the biggest regional rosters in any mainline game, so there's a lot of ground to cover before you even touch transfers.

Friend Safari in Kiloude City (postgame) is the key for completionists. Each friend registered on your 3DS contributes a unique safari zone with specific Pokemon and their Hidden Abilities. Some species only appear through Friend Safari and can't be found anywhere else in the game.
