Gulpin is technically a pre-evolution of Swalot, but it holds its own in formats where Eviolite is allowed. Only weak to Ground and Psychic. Introduced in Gen 3. Known as the Stomach Pokemon.
HP and Defense carry most of Gulpin's stat budget. Speed's the obvious dump stat. Easy to catch and yields 1 HP EV. Follows a standard growth curve.
There is nothing its stomach can’t digest. While it is digesting, vile, overpowering gases are expelled.
It has a small heart and brain. Its stomach comprises most of its body, with enzymes to dissolve anything.
Gulpin Weakness
GoodGulpin is weak to Ground and Psychic-type moves. 5 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Just 2 weak spots to worry about, which keeps teambuilding straightforward.
One evolution ahead. Gulpin grows into Swalot through a straightforward two-stage chain. Plenty of partners for breeding via one egg group. Eggs are average hatch time. Evolving adds up to 165 stat points total.
How to Evolve
Eviolite turns Gulpin into a wall that rivals fully evolved options. Stickyhold and Adamant nature stack with a spread EV build EVs to create a surprisingly tough defensive core. Rest patches up chip damage.

TMs carry this one. Gulpin learns Belch and Gunk Shot naturally for STAB, but the offensive range comes almost entirely from technical machines. Normal and Grass and beyond give it real matchup play.
