Mid-stage Pokemon like Fuecoco rarely see competitive play outside of special formats. It's a waypoint on the road to Skeledirge, which is where the real potential kicks in. Known as the Fire Croc Pokemon. Can go either physical or special depending on the set.

Fuecoco's spread isn't flashy. HP leads, Speed trails, 0 stats clear the bar. Tough to catch and worth 1 HP EV, on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.

It lies on warm rocks and uses the heat absorbed by its square-shaped scales to create fire energy.

Scarlet

Its flame sac is small, so energy is always leaking out. This energy is released from the dent atop Fuecoco’s head and flickers to and fro.

Violet

The slow wall spread is where Fuecoco earns its spot. Eviolite for a bulk boost that only works before full evolution, Relaxed nature for the right lean, and Slack Off handles sustain. Unaware does the rest without needing a move slot.

Without breeding, Fuecoco misses out on Belch and Curse. That's 4 egg moves adding depth that the base kit lacks. STAB comes from Overheat and Flare Blitz, with coverage across 9 types rounding things out.

  • Fuecoco isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Crocalor to unlock its full potential. At 310 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.

  • Watch for Milotic (Water), Excadrill (Ground), and Lycanroc (Rock) when using Fuecoco. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. At base 36 Speed, Fuecoco won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • Fuecoco evolves into Crocalor at level 16. Fuecoco is the base form in a 3-stage evolutionary line.

  • Run Unaware on Fuecoco. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Fuecoco also gets Blaze, but they don't compare.

  • Fuecoco fills the balanced role. It's a special attacker with base 63 Sp. Atk. Base 36 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's fragile — can't afford to take many hits.

  • Fuecoco can be found in Scarlet & Violet.

Introduced in Scarlet & Violet, Fuecoco has appeared in 1 games across 1 generation. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
