While most trainers evolve Dartrix into Decidueye immediately, the unevolved form has a niche with Eviolite boosting its defenses. Ground moves can't touch it, which offsets the 5 weaknesses somewhat. Known as the Blade Quill Pokemon. Can go either physical or special depending on the set.
Dartrix's spread isn't flashy. HP leads, Speed trails, 0 stats clear the bar. Tough to catch and worth 2 HP EVs, on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
Regularly basks in sunlight to gather power—presumably due to the frigid climate. Nonetheless, the edges of the blade quills set into its wings are keen as ever.
Dartrix Weakness
VulnerableDartrix's Grass/Flying typing leaves it vulnerable to Ice, Fire, Poison, Flying, and Rock moves. Ice hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Ground-type attacks completely.
Dartrix is the middle stage between Rowlet and Decidueye. It's a three-stage line with one more evolution to go. For breeding, quick to hatch with plenty of partners via one egg group. So far, Attack got the biggest boost (+20 from Rowlet). The final form adds another 110 stats on top.
How to Evolve
One guaranteed turn is all Dartrix needs. Focus Sash buys it, max Sp. Atk and Speed EVs make it count, and Overgrow adds something extra. The goal: deal early damage and deal damage with Tailwind. Utility options gives it play beyond just the lead turn.

Recommended Teammates
Without TMs, Dartrix's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get Ghost and Normal coverage on top of Leaf Storm and Brave Bird for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.

Tutor Moves
Dartrix's options are limited here. You've got Leaf Storm and Leaf Blade for STAB damage, but there isn't much beyond Grass and Flying hitting power. TMs help fill gaps, though the kit stays tight.
You'll want to breed for Confuse Ray and Defog on Dartrix. These egg moves aren't just nice to have. Combined with STAB from Brave Bird and Solar Beam, they expand what Dartrix can actually threaten in practice.

Dartrix isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Decidueye to unlock its full potential. At 420 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.
Watch for Weavile (Ice), Infernape (Fire), and Salazzle (Poison) when using Dartrix. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Weavile is the most dangerous since Ice moves deal 4x damage. Flying and Rock-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.
Rowlet evolves into Dartrix at level 17. Dartrix can evolve into Decidueye and Hisuian Decidueye depending on the method. Dartrix is a middle-stage evolution in the Rowlet line.
Overgrow strengthens grass moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less — that's the one you want on Dartrix. Long Reach is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.
Dartrix fills the support role. It's leaning toward the physical side (base 75 Attack). At base 52 Speed, it won't be moving first often. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
Dartrix can be found in Scarlet & Violet, Legends: Arceus, Sword & Shield, Sun & Moon, and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon.
Introduced in Sun & Moon, Dartrix has appeared in 5 games across 3 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
