That 4x Fighting and Steel weakness is something every Aurorus user needs to plan around. Snow Warning sets snow on switch-in, which helps. Known as the Tundra Pokemon. Can go either physical or special depending on the set.
Aurorus's spread is anchored by HP, with special bulk backing it up. Speed is the clear weak point. Worth 2 HP EVs per KO, and the medium-fast 1M XP curve keeps leveling painless.
The diamond-shaped crystals on its body expel air as cold as -240 degrees Fahrenheit, surrounding its enemies and encasing them in ice.
Using its diamond-shaped crystals, it can instantly create a wall of ice to block an opponent’s attack.
Aurorus Weakness
FragileAurorus's Rock/Ice typing leaves it vulnerable to Fighting, Steel, Water, Grass, Ground, and Rock moves. Fighting and Steel hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Aurorus's overall bulk (123/72/92) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.
Aurorus is the evolved form of Amaura. Breeding produces Amaura eggs, and they're slow to hatch. Evolving from Amaura gave Aurorus the biggest boost in HP (+46), bringing the total to 521 stats.
How to Evolve
Breed with Aurorus to get Amaura eggs from the Monster egg group. Notable egg moves include Barrier, Discharge, Haze and 2 more.
Life Orb and Refrigerate form the backbone. Aurorus invests max Sp. Atk without Speed EVs to play its special attacker role properly, and Modest nature pushes Sp. Atk higher. Blizzard handles the heavy lifting on offense. The remaining moves rounds it out.

You'll want to breed for Barrier and Discharge on Aurorus. These egg moves aren't just nice to have. Combined with STAB from Blizzard and Stone Edge, they expand what Aurorus can actually threaten in practice.

Can't catch Aurorus directly. Start with Amaura but it's a rare spawn from the locations below, then evolve at level 39. The 2-stage line from Amaura to Aurorus is where the leveling time goes.

Don't let Aurorus's 521 base stat total fool you. Snow Warning is what makes it tick — it punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier.
Watch for Conkeldurr (Fighting), Lucario (Steel), and Greninja (Water) when using Aurorus. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Conkeldurr is the most dangerous since Fighting moves deal 4x damage. Grass, Ground, and Rock-type attackers are also a problem. With 6 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.
Amaura evolves into Aurorus at level 39. Aurorus is the fully evolved form. At 521 BST, it's got solid stats to work with.
Run Snow Warning on Aurorus. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Aurorus also gets Refrigerate, but they don't compare.
Aurorus fills the balanced role. It's a special attacker with base 99 Sp. Atk. At base 58 Speed, it won't be moving first often. And it's tanky enough to absorb a few hits.
Aurorus appears in 6 games, including X & Y, Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon.
Introduced in X & Y, Aurorus has appeared in 6 games across 4 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
