Seismitoad's Water/Ground typing gives it an immunity to Electric. Only 1 weaknesses on top of that — it has plenty of safe switch-in opportunities. Swift Swim adds more value on top. Needs some investment to avoid getting outsped.

Seismitoad's spread is anchored by HP, with balanced defenses backing it up. Speed is the clear weak point. Worth 3 HP EVs per KO, and the 1.06M XP medium-slow curve keeps leveling painless.

Seismitoad Weakness

Good

Grass-type moves hit Seismitoad for super-effective damage. Grass hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. The upside? Electric-type moves can't touch it at all. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Water Absorb grants an additional Water immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. With 105 HP and balanced defenses, Seismitoad can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.

Recommended Teammates

Don't skip the egg moves. Seismitoad picks up After You and Earth Power only through breeding, and both fill gaps the natural movepool can't. STAB runs through Hydro Pump and Earthquake while coverage across 7 types adds range.

No wild encounters for Seismitoad in X & Y. Bring Tympole over from Black, Omega Ruby, or Sword, then level through the stages. Each step in the chain is laid out below.

    Step 3Seismitoad
  • Don't let Seismitoad's 509 base stat total fool you. Swift Swim is what makes it tick — it punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier.

  • Watch for Exeggutor (Grass) when using Seismitoad. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Exeggutor is the most dangerous since Grass moves deal 4x damage. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • Palpitoad evolves into Seismitoad at level 36. Seismitoad is the final evolution in a 3-stage line starting from Tympole. At 509 BST, it's got solid stats to work with.

  • Run Swift Swim on Seismitoad. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Seismitoad also gets Poison Touch and Water Absorb, but they don't compare.

  • Seismitoad fills the balanced role. It's a mixed attacker — base 95 Attack and 85 Sp. Atk. Base 74 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • Seismitoad appears in 7 games, including Black & White, Black 2 & White 2, and X & Y.

Introduced in Black & White, Seismitoad has appeared in 7 games across 5 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
