Stats & Training

Raw HP carries Throh's bulk more than the defenses do. Sp. Atk barely registers. But that HP pool covers for it. A tough to catch Judo Pokemon that yields 2 HP EVs on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.

X & Y Throh Best Moveset

Adamant nature gives Throh the physical lean it needs to trade hits effectively. Leftovers adds passive recovery each turn, spread EVs split the difference, and the remaining moves punishes anything trying to wall it. Rest keeps it topped off between trades.

TMs carry this one. Throh learns Superpower and Focus Blast naturally for STAB, but the offensive range comes almost entirely from technical machines. Normal and Ground and beyond give it real matchup play.

Throh Guide

  • In X & Y, Mold Breaker changes the entire equation for Throh. The 465 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier as a tank. Rest with Leftovers is the standard set.

  • In X & Y, Throh's biggest threats include Staraptor (Flying), Reuniclus (Psychic), and Clefable (Fairy), all carrying super-effective STAB moves.

  • Mold Breaker is what you want on Throh. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Guts, Inner Focus) work on paper but Mold Breaker is what makes Throh worth using.

  • Base 45 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Throh is leaning toward the physical side (base 100 Attack). Defensively? Tanky enough to absorb a few hits. Best used as a tank.

  • For X & Y, the core moveset is Rest, Rock Slide, Sleep Talk, and Circlethrow. Rest leads at 19% usage. This set covers the tank role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Throh joined the series in Black & White and has been available in 8 titles so far. With 6 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
