While most trainers evolve Skorupi into Drapion immediately, the unevolved form has a niche with Eviolite boosting its defenses. Only weak to Fire, Flying, Psychic, and Rock. Introduced in Gen 4. Known as the Scorpion Pokemon.
Defense and Speed carry most of Skorupi's stat budget. Sp. Atk's the obvious dump stat. Common in the wild and yields 1 Defense EV. Follows a slow 1.25M XP grind.
Its claws are not only razor-sharp but poisonous, making Skorupi a highly dangerous Pokémon. It seems to be weakened by cold temperatures, however.
Skorupi Weakness
AvgSkorupi's Poison/Bug typing leaves it vulnerable to Fire, Flying, Psychic, and Rock moves. 5 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Skorupi's physical bulk (base 90 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
One evolution ahead. Skorupi grows into Drapion through a straightforward two-stage chain. No compatible partners for breeding via two egg groups. Eggs are average hatch time. The evolved forms gain up to 170 total stats over Skorupi.
How to Evolve
Breed Skorupi easily from the Bug and Water3 egg groups. Pass egg moves like Agility, Confuse Ray, Feint Attack and 9 more to offspring.

You'll want to breed for Agility and Confuse Ray on Skorupi. These egg moves aren't just nice to have. Combined with STAB from Sludge Bomb and Poison Jab, they expand what Skorupi can actually threaten in practice.

Skorupi is meant to evolve into Drapion. At 330 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
Skorupi evolves into Drapion at level 40. Skorupi is the base form of this evolutionary line.
Battle Armor protects against critical hits — that's the one you want on Skorupi. Keen Eye is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses. Sniper works too if your team needs something different.
At base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Skorupi is a physical attacker with base 50 Attack.

Available in 12 titles since its debut in Diamond & Pearl, Skorupi spans 6 generations of Pokemon games. It's accessible through catching or hatching as a base form in a solid number of games.
