While most trainers evolve Scraggy into Scrafty immediately, the unevolved form has a niche with Eviolite boosting its defenses. Psychic moves can't touch it, and only 3 types hit it super-effectively. Known as the Shedding Pokemon.
Attack and Defense carry most of Scraggy's stat budget. Sp. Atk's the obvious dump stat. Common in the wild and yields 1 Attack EV. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
If it locks eyes with you, watch out! Nothing and no one is safe from the reckless headbutts of this troublesome Pokémon.
It protects itself with its durable skin. It’s thought that this Pokémon will evolve once its skin has completely stretched out.
Scraggy Weakness
AvgScraggy's Dark/Fighting typing leaves it vulnerable to Fairy, Fighting, and Flying moves. Fairy hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Psychic-type attacks completely.
One evolution ahead. Scraggy grows into Scrafty through a straightforward two-stage chain. Plenty of partners for breeding via two egg groups. Eggs are quick to hatch. The evolved forms gain up to 140 total stats over Scraggy.
How to Evolve
Breed Scraggy easily with 65 breeding partners from the Dragon and Ground egg groups. Pass egg moves like Counter, Detect, Fake Out and 1 more to offspring.
Still unevolved, still relevant. Scraggy's Eviolite bulk with Defense and Sp. Def investment EVs creates a defensive profile that punches above its stage. Intimidate adds passive value. Fakeout gives it offensive presence.

Scraggy is meant to evolve into Scrafty. At 348 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
Watch for Gardevoir (Fairy), Conkeldurr (Fighting), and Dodrio (Flying) when using Scraggy. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Gardevoir is the most dangerous since Fairy moves deal 4x damage.
Scraggy evolves into Scrafty at level 39. Scraggy is the base form of this evolutionary line.
Intimidate is what you want on Scraggy. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Shed Skin, Moxie) work on paper but Intimidate is what makes Scraggy worth using.
Base 48 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Scraggy is leaning toward the physical side (base 75 Attack).
