While most trainers evolve Scraggy into Scrafty immediately, the unevolved form has a niche with Eviolite boosting its defenses. Psychic moves can't touch it, and only 2 types hit it super-effectively. Known as the Shedding Pokemon.
Attack and Defense carry most of Scraggy's stat budget. Sp. Atk's the obvious dump stat. Common in the wild and yields 1 Attack EV. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
Proud of its sturdy skull, it suddenly headbutts everything, but its weight makes it unstable, too.
Scraggy Weakness
GoodScraggy's Dark/Fighting typing leaves it vulnerable to Fighting and Flying moves. It shrugs off Psychic-type attacks completely. Just 2 weak spots to worry about, which keeps teambuilding straightforward.
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)
One evolution ahead. Scraggy grows into Scrafty through a straightforward two-stage chain. No compatible partners for breeding via two egg groups. Eggs are quick to hatch. The evolved forms gain up to 140 total stats over Scraggy.
How to Evolve
Breed Scraggy easily from the Dragon and Ground egg groups. Pass egg moves like Amnesia, Counter, Detect and 8 more to offspring.

Breadth over depth defines this movepool. Scraggy won't stack one type's damage ceiling, but coverage across 11 types means it always has an effective option. Focus Punch and High Jump Kick anchor the STAB core.

Scraggy is meant to evolve into Scrafty. At 348 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
Watch for Conkeldurr (Fighting) and Dodrio (Flying) when using Scraggy. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.
Scraggy evolves into Scrafty at level 39. Scraggy is the base form of this evolutionary line.
Intimidate is what you want on Scraggy. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Shed Skin, Moxie) work on paper but Intimidate is what makes Scraggy worth using.
Base 48 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Scraggy is leaning toward the physical side (base 75 Attack).
Scraggy appears in 9 games, including Black & White, Black 2 & White 2, and X & Y.
Scraggy joined the series in Black & White and has been available in 9 titles so far. With 5 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
