Mewtwo Guide

  • In Crystal, Mewtwo is a Legendary Pokemon rated S-Tier. At 680 BST, it hits hard. It excels as a sweeper. Base 154 Sp. Atk is where it shines.

  • Mega Evolution isn't available in Crystal, but Mewtwo does have a Mega form in Gen 6-7 games (X/Y, ORAS, Sun/Moon). Mega Mewtwo hits 780 BST.

  • In Crystal, Mewtwo's biggest threats include Scyther (Bug), Misdreavus (Ghost), and Tyranitar (Dark), all carrying super-effective STAB moves.

  • In Crystal, Mewtwo fills the sweeper role. It's a special attacker with base 154 Sp. Atk. Base 130 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. And it's tanky enough to absorb a few hits.

  • In Crystal, the best way to handle Mewtwo: Priority moves (Mach Punch, Aqua Jet, Ice Shard) bypass its speed. Bulky walls that resist its STAB also shut it down.

Game Availability

Mewtwo has appeared in 21 games since Red & Blue, spanning 10 generations. As a Legendary, it's typically a one-per-save encounter tied to the story or post-game content.
