Stats & Training
Nothing fancy in Latias's spread. It leans special with Sp. Def out front. And you'll get 3 Sp. Def EVs per KO for it. Follows a slow 1.25M XP grind.
They make a small herd of only several members. They rarely make contact with people or other POKéMON. They disappear if they sense enemies.
Latias Weakness
Latias is weak to Ice, Bug, Ghost, Dragon, and Dark. It resists 6 types, so it can switch into a lot of moves safely. Levitate grants an additional Ground immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Latias's special bulk (base 130 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Ice, Bug, Ghost, Dragon, Dark |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Water, Electric, Grass, Fighting, Psychic |
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move
In Emerald, Forretress's Explosion hits Latias for 60-70%. Flygon's Earthquake hits Latias for 39-46%. Regice deals 66-78% with Ice Beam.

Latias Guide
In Emerald, Latias is a Legendary Pokemon rated A-Tier. At 600 BST, it hits hard. It excels as a sweeper. That 130 base Sp. Def does the heavy lifting.
Mega Evolution isn't available in Emerald, but Latias does have a Mega form in Gen 6-7 games (X/Y, ORAS, Sun/Moon). Mega Latias hits 700 BST.
In Emerald, Latias's biggest threats include Walrein (Ice), Pinsir (Bug), and Gengar (Ghost), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Dragon and Dark-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. Latias has enough bulk to absorb a hit, but don't push the matchup. Pivot to a teammate that resists.
Latias gets Levitate. But Levitate is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that. With base 110 Speed, Levitate gives Latias an edge before opponents can react.
Latias is a special attacker with base 110 Sp. Atk. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 110 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the sweeper role.
