Genesect has the stats to dominate any format it's allowed in. 120 base Attack stands out, and the rest of the spread doesn't have obvious weak points either. Known as the Paleozoic Pokemon. Introduced in Gen 5.

The stat budget goes to damage. Attack and Sp. Atk carry the offense, HP doesn't even come close. A Paleozoic Pokemon on a slow 1.25M XP grind, worth 3 Attack and Sp. Atk and Speed EVs per KO.

Genesect Weakness

Excellent

Fire-type moves hit Genesect for super-effective damage. Fire hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. The upside? Poison-type moves can't touch it at all. With 8 resistances, the defensive profile is strong. With 71 HP and balanced defenses, Genesect can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.

Mythical Pokemon don't breed, and Genesect is no exception. This Bug/Steel type sits at 600 stats with no chain to speak of.

Genesect is not available as a wild encounter in this game.

This is an event-exclusive or special distribution.

  • At 600 BST, Genesect is built different. We rank it B-Tier. As a Mythical Pokemon, the raw stats back up the reputation. Best used as a wallbreaker.

  • Watch for Volcarona (Fire) when using Genesect. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Volcarona is the most dangerous since Fire moves deal 4x damage. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • Genesect doesn't evolve. As a Mythical Pokemon, it stands on its own without an evolutionary line. It's a Bug/Steel type with 600 BST.

  • Download raises the attack stat corresponding to the opponents' weaker defense one stage upon entering battle — that's the one you want on Genesect. It's the only ability Genesect has.

  • Base 99 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Genesect is a special attacker with base 120 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a wallbreaker.

  • Genesect appears in 8 games, including Black & White, Black 2 & White 2, and X & Y.

Genesect first appeared in Black & White and has been available in 8 titles. Mythical distribution means event-only access in most games, making it one of the harder Pokemon to collect.
