Exeggcute sits at the start of its evolution line — not yet at full power, but that changes fast. Most trainers push through to Exeggutor as fast as possible. Ghost moves can't touch it, which offsets the 5 weaknesses somewhat. Known as the Egg Pokemon.

Exeggcute's spread isn't flashy. Defense leads, Attack trails, 1 stats clear the bar. Moderately hard to find and worth 1 Defense EV, on a slow 1.25M XP grind.

Exeggcute Weakness

Avg

Type-wise, Exeggcute takes extra damage from Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Bug. Ghost moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. 6 resistances give it solid defensive coverage on top of that. Exeggcute's physical bulk (base 80 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.

Gen I Type Chart
  • Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
  • Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
  • Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split

Exeggcute starts a line toward Exeggutor. Can't breed this Grass/Psychic type (325 stats), so keep the evolution path going. Evolving adds up to 205 stat points total.

TMs define Exeggcute's movepool. The natural moves cover basics with Solar Beam and Psychic, but the real versatility comes from technical machines giving it Normal coverage. That's where the options open up.

  • Exeggcute isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Exeggutor to unlock its full potential. At 325 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.

  • Exeggcute's biggest threats include Charizard (Fire), Cloyster (Ice), and Gengar (Poison), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. At base 40 Speed, Exeggcute won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • Exeggcute can evolve into Exeggutor and Alolan Exeggutor depending on the method. Exeggcute is the base form in a 3-stage evolutionary line.

  • Exeggcute fills the balanced role. It's a special attacker with base 60 Sp. Atk. Base 40 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.

  • Exeggcute appears in 20 games, including Yellow, Red & Blue, and Gold & Silver.

Exeggcute has been part of the series since Red & Blue, appearing in 20 titles across all 9 generations. As a Gen 1 original, it's one of the most consistently available Pokemon in the franchise.
